CREATING POSITIVE OUTCOMES AND CHANGE IN TIMES OF UNCERTAINTY: IDEAS AND TOOLS FOR EVERYONE

Creating social change requires a unique mindset and set of tools. The UCT Online course, “Becoming a change maker: Introduction to Social Innovation”  has been created with and about RLabs, and was attended by more than 100,000 individuals around the globe. The course will give you great insight into the journey and impact of the organisation.  You might also be working on your next project and start-up and are asking questions on what resources will be needed to create the product, service or impact. This course will challenge your thinking and likely debunk common assumptions around the resources required for you to act as a Social innovator.

In a recent book by Dr Christian Busch, he draws on his experience of studying RLabs for over 5 years and highlights how innovative community-driven solutions were created by the locals, for the locals, in the most challenging of conditions. “Our tendency to simply plan and map out the future does not do justice to the complexities and intricacies of many societal and environmental issues. It requires us to develop a mindset that leverages uncertainty and the unknown as a pathway to innovation, impact, and smart luck.” says Dr Christian Busch.

An article in the Stanford Social Innovation Review provides insight into the beginning days of RLabs and helpful examples of how the organisation was adapting to the needs of the community.
