Experiencing the ‘State of REALity’ – A Unique Art Exhibition at RLabs House

One of the most unique extensions of RLabs’ mission is the RLabs House, a boutique destination unlike any other in the world. Nestled in the vibrant community of Mitchell’s Plain, RLabs House beautifully encapsulates Cape Flats’ design and culture. Here, art and HOPE meet, resulting in a space that not only showcases local artistic talent, yet brings together locals and visitors for memorable experiences.
This July, RLabs House is gearing up for its 11th art exhibition. We are thrilled to announce a collaboration with The World Art gallery, featuring a solo exhibition by the world-renowned artist Dion Cupido. The exhibition is titled ‘State of REALity,’ the exhibition aims to blur the boundaries between reality and perception, exploring how one person’s dangerous ghetto can be another’s place of safety.
Dion Cupido’s artistic brilliance is showcased through his unique technique of interweaving the fragile and the charged in his portrayals of urban scenes and portraits. These thought-provoking pieces present viewers with potentially different experiences, influenced by their personal realities. It’s a captivating exploration of how reality is subjective and personal, defined by our perceptions and experiences.
The ‘State of REALity’ exhibition kicks off on First Thursday, 6 July 2023, and will run for the entire month at RLabs House, #38 Silverhurt Street, Westridge, Mitchells Plain. It promises to be a sensory experience that will leave visitors introspective, enlightened, and enriched.
