My name is Zoliswa Makhebe, I am 25 years old. I studied Electrical Engineering after Matric. It was really hard for me to find a job as some companies do not hire females in the Electrical industry.
In 2019, I registered at Naspers Labs so that I can try something new. I was hoping that after being done with my courses at Naspers Labs, something would change in my life.
I then had an opportunity to be interviewed by the RLabs team to join the Yes Program. They were so friendly and I’m grateful to have passed the interview. The RLabs team taught us how to conduct ourselves in the workplace and encouraged us that we must not lose hope or give up.
I was placed at Maritz Electrical. It was a dream of mine to work for Maritz Electrical! After my 12-month contract ended with the RLabs Yes program, Maritz Electrical offered me a permanent position. I’m so grateful for the opportunity because it is really hard to find a job.
I advise everyone unemployed to never lose hope, never tell yourself that you can’t, and start telling yourself that you can. Grab those opportunities that come your way because you don’t know where it may lead.
