RLabs hosted the official launch of the GROW Leadership Academy where a number of the key partners were present to celebrate the achievements to date. The launch also had special guests including the Minister of Social Development, MEC Albert Fritz and Missions Director of USAID South Africa, Jeff Borns at the event.
The GROW Leadership Academy (GLA) is a current partnership between RLabs, GivenGain, WooThemes, Silulu Technologies, Web Growth and Getsmarter. The GLA is also supported by Department of Social Development Western Cape, USAID, Finnish Embassy and the DG Murray Trust. Since its inception earlier November last year the programme hosted more than 120 young people through the programme. Some of the exciting achievement of some of the GROW graduates are starting their own businesses that raised more than R1 million in local and international funding, acceptance into the World Economic Forum Global Shapers programme and employment for 95% of the graduates.
The GLA partners have all committed to scale the current offering with programmes being planned to launch in Johannesburg during July this year.
