Offer Young People Alternatives to Drugs and Gangsterism

This morning one of the RLabs crew members, Clinton Liederman was interviewed on the Expresso Morning Show – SABC 3 about his past and how he was caught up in drugs and gangsterism. Clinton shared his story of hope and had this to say: ” we need to offer young people alternatives to drugs and gangsterism and give them hope!”

Angel is a online mobile counselling service which provides users access to trained counselors through their mobile devices.

The service was birthed in 2008 and has grown phenomenally, its currently servicing over 3 million people throughout Africa and has received positive responses from its users, on a busy day we can receive as much as 2000 messages, 1000 page views, and manages over 500 conversations. The counselling programme takes place at RLabs main office in Bridgetown where it is runs from Monday-Wednesday for 2 hours from 14h00-16h00pm.

Our counselors are very passionate about their work and have dedicated their time to helping the many thousands out there who seek help, some of the cases we deal with on a daily basis can be anything from Rape, Suicide, Murder and Drugs and can be very disturbing at times but our highly trained counselors have their ways of dealing with these matters. The important thing is that its not just a chatting process between the counselor and user, a relationship is being built based on trust and understanding to make sure that the user responds openly and honestly.
