Oxford University Visits RLabs: A Dynamic Knowledge Exchange in Mitchells Plain
On 4 October 2024, RLabs had the pleasure of hosting a visit from esteemed faculty and students from Oxford University at our space in Westridge, Mitchells Plain. The day was filled with inspiring exchanges of ideas and knowledge sharing.
The Oxford University delegation arrived with contagious enthusiasm, immediately setting the tone for the visit. Their energy and passion for their respective fields were evident as they engaged in discussions with RLabs staff and interns. The collaborative atmosphere fostered by both institutions created a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment. The visit provided a valuable platform for cultural exchange, as participants shared their unique backgrounds and perspectives. RLabs guided the delegation through the art gallery at RLabs House, showcasing works by individuals who have lived in Mitchell’s Plain.
The day concluded with a sense of mutual appreciation and admiration. RLabs was honored to welcome Oxford University to its organization and expressed gratitude for their valuable contributions to the community.
Later in October, the RLabs community had the privilege of hosting students from Oxford University’s Executive MBA program. This visit allowed for another unique exchange of knowledge, experiences, and insights.
Upon arrival, the guests were warmly received and introduced to the space, with refreshments provided to help them settle in comfortably. The group then participated in an energizing activity led by RLabs Champions, designed to uplift and connect everyone in attendance.
Following the energizer, Suzanne Smith shared a moving story of hope, offering a powerful glimpse into the impact of resilience and transformation. This was followed by a presentation by Craig Du Mont, who narrated the inspiring journey of RLabs and its impact on local communities. The visitors then participated in a fireside chat with two RLabs innovations, exploring deeper insights and engaging in enriching discussions.
The tour continued with a visit to the garden, building facilities, and RLabs House, providing firsthand insight into the spaces that foster RLabs’ community initiatives. A networking lunch offered an opportunity for informal interactions, with RLabs Champions connecting personally with the visitors.
The visit concluded with a street tour leading to the Zlto premises, where the guests witnessed RLabs’ practical community work. Many expressed admiration and appreciation, sharing how they were inspired by RLabs’ ground-level impact within the community.
These memorable visits from Oxford University faculty, students, and Executive MBA participants not only highlighted the inspiring work of RLabs but also underscored the power of collaboration and cultural exchange.
