RLabs Connect – Connecting Youth to Employment Opportunities

RLabs Connect provides Job Placement Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation Services to clients. Connecting youth to employment opportunities, implementing and tracking youth through work readiness, leadership programs, and quality work experience through youth development portfolios. We do this through DLab hubs, training programs, and partner networks. RLabs Connect can ensure that their job placement service is successful and improve youths prospect of long-term success in the workforce for their youth.

In today’s fast paced world securing employment and gaining practical work experience is a challenge.

The RLabs Connect team is powered by a group of women champions who are dedicated to serving the youth in our communities, working against years of negative statistics with their knowledge, experiences, drive and determination on a daily basis. 

The high unemployment rate, especially among the youth in South Africa, is a concerning issue. It’s heartbreaking to see so many young people struggle to find stable employment and the impact it has on their lives and the larger society. 

Efforts to improve education and skills training programs can equip youth with the necessary tools to enter the job market and increase their chances of finding employment. Entrepreneurship and the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can also play a significant role in job creation. 

Encouraging innovation and providing support for young entrepreneurs can foster economic growth and employment opportunities. Addressing the causes of unemployment, such as inequality, lack of economic opportunities, and structural barriers, is essential for creating a more inclusive and prosperous society. 

It requires long-term commitment and collaboration to create an environment where everyone has access to meaningful employment and the chance to live a dignified life.

One significant aspect of their work is managing a government initiative program called YES4Youth that facilitates a 12 month work experience for eligible candidates. This program acts as a platform for the youth to step into the world of work, equipped with the skills they’ve gained through their internship.

You may be wondering, how are candidates recruited for these internships?

Over the years RLabs has grown a substantial network of corporate partners, small businesses, and programs such as the IEP program. The team leverages this network to streamline the process of recruiting new interns and candidates for employment opportunities. 

By reaching out to their partners, RLabs Connect can identify potential candidates and youth who can benefit from the program, utilizing their existing partnerships to create opportunities for the youth and facilitate their entry into the workforce. This approach significantly simplifies the recruitment process compared to traditional methods, such as public job postings.

Platforms such as SAYouth Mobi are also leveraged to connect candidates with possible employment opportunities. SAYouth Mobi is a platform where businesses can list their job opportunities, making them accessible to all youth that are signed up on the platform. 

This platform not only benefits RLabs and the candidates that are part of the 12 month internship program but also serves the broader community by connecting job seekers with potential employers.

Connect takes an approach to assisting candidates by providing individualized assessments and support, so they can truly understand the unique skills and aspirations of each person. This personalized approach sets a strong foundation for success.
