Cape Town has been chosen as the World Design Capital (WDC) of 2014! This calls for some creative celebrations. Last year RLabs hosted several co-creation events to address the social and economic wellbeing of people, and with Cape Town being the WDC, we have more reason to explore greater innovation for social change.
The very first of quarterly co-creation events for 2013 will happen on the 26th of April, 2013 at the RLabs headquarters in Bridgetown, Athlone.
RLabs will bring together students and professionals from sectors such as design, technology, business, education, youth, and community to catalyse their collective creativity and knowledge to spearhead social change through Open Design.
The Open Design Co-creation event will focus on these 2 themes: African innovation that impacts the world and design that connects cities and reconciles communities.
The idea is to concentrate on the local potential of design and design sharing, where we can impact our local communities of Cape Town and innovate social change. The event is open with limited spaces for interested parties to join by emailing us at rlabsevent@gmail.com.
This sounds exciting! I can’t wait to see what comes out the hackathon. Hopefully we will get to see some interesting innovations.
