Over the last few months RLabs in South Africa in partnership with WooThemes, Given Gain, Silulo Technologies, Web Growth and Get Smarter launched the GROW Academy with a goal of growing digital minds. With the large number of unemployed youth in Southern Africa providing youth with digital skills and giving them invaluable work experience in industry proved to be very successful. The GROW Academy already had an overwhelming response from industry and some of the Digital Minds have already secured contracts with companies as Social Media workers.
RLabs will continue with its quest to empower and equip communities with skills to ensure the well-being of its citizens. We hope to move this initiative to other countries as well and see the power of social and new media in action.
