RLabsU also known as an “Academy in a box” is a local community academy that leverages community assets to operate. We are excited to let you know that there are six of these hubs operating in and around Cape Town, packed with amazing champions ready to give you a learning experience like never before.
On Saturday we enjoyed our RLabsU Application Day with outstanding results, and of course, Making HOPE Contagious.
Our RLabsU Bridgetown hub saw us fill over 450 seats for our courses and 160 students enrolled. These courses on offer aim to further develop lives by equipping students with skills that will help them improve in at least one of three developmental areas:
Business Development – for those looking to develop their entrepreneurial capabilities.
Self-improvement – for those seeking to better their lives in a personal capacity and improve their standard of living.
Critical Skills – for those who would like to acquire a skill for employment and increase their probability for job placement.
Stories of Hope heard from the ground:
“It’s amazing how RLabs can touch people’s lives in the classroom and beyond. In the 1st semester one of our applicants came with his daughter to apply for our Office Management & Technology course, and now in the 2nd semester application day his wife came with him so that she can become computer literate through our Geeky Moms course (a course by women for women).”
“It was wonderful to see that most of our applicants chose to do multiple courses and have the appetite to explore new avenues!”
The Application Day was scheduled to be open until 2 pm on Saturday, however, a common goal and excitement to see it realized drove the RLabs Family to stay an hour longer and assist late applicants.
The day was filled with many highlights, one of them was seeing a Coding graduate, originally from Congo, who had brought 5 other friends to apply for our courses. Even though many of them are currently studying at universities here in Cape Town, they were still quite enthused to undergo training with RLabs. It’s moments like these that leave us convinced that we have indeed succeeded in making HOPE contagious, and we look forward to seeing our students reach even higher!
If you were unable to meet with us on our Application Day but you would still like to apply, you’ll be happy to hear that we’ve opened up Online Applications (for the courses that are not yet full).
