Today the RLabs academy was in full swing at 3 different Living Labs across the country (Cape Town, Atlantis and Johannesburg). The variety of courses on offer were Social and Digital Media, Project Management, Events Management, Photo Editing and Entrepreneurship with more than 500 community learners (young and old) attending.
The Entrepreneurship groups were learning the Business Model canvas (see presentation below), digital and social media groups were introduced to tools such as Google Apps, Facebook, Twitter, Blogger and YouTube, events and project management teams were introduced to their respective projects while the photo editing participants were learning how to master open source editing software. The buzz at the academy proved to us once more that the appetite for learning in our communities are on the rise and that the possibilities for reconstruction are endless.

these workshops sound great! I give my time and effort to an outreach programme in dance where I offer photography and videography for class critique, securing sponsorships and record purposes. Although based in Athlone the programme operates in Langa, Gugs, Nyanga and Khaye as well as in some rural towns. I am self taught and have difficulties in keeping up with the technology available to improve what I offer to the community. I believe these workshops, if available to me, would be extremely helpful……comments please……see my work on facebook and also my profile on linkedin as well as Betalife Productions on facebook.
Awesome’nn
