The past three weeks have been successful and exciting for the RLabs Academy and one of those sessions is the new Introduction to Social Media classes, a gathering of more than 60 people.
The past two weeks, the group focused on Google, whereby they signed up and equipped themselves with Gmail email accounts and other Google tools. The diversity of the group is evident as the demographics reflects an age range of 18 to 85 years old, with 65% being female, majority had no knowledge of sending emails, the internet or touching a computer before.
After creating email accounts and becoming comfortable with sending emails, people were then shown that their emails are not just about sending emails, but also what else they could do within their Gmail. They started by changing their themes and thereafter they went into the Google Chat experiencing instant messaging and video calling.
This week the people left the Academy surprised by what all they could do with their Gmail accounts besides sending an email, and are looking forward to unpacking more of Google’s products as well as learn how to maximize all of this via their mobile phones.
