Today RLabs along with project lead Cell Life, Mxit Reach and other partners will see the launch of the Khayenet community portal programme. This is the first of its kind on the Mxit Portal where community members were trained and equipped at RLabs with the skills to manage their own information portals in order for their community members to access relevant information via their mobile phones.

This pilot project headed by Cell Life and organisations in the Khayelitsha township in Cape Town, South Africa proves that mobile phones have a big role to play in civil society and community upliftment especially in marginalized or poorer communities.

RLabs is proud to have been part of this pioneering initiative and will continue providing support to the organisations and community members in Khayelitsha.
