The past few months has been exciting as the team in Cape Town have been developing a Youth Innovation Programme that includes the popular GROW Academy, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Leadership and Community Development aspects. The US$790,000 is a grant investment by U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and The Western Cape Department of Social Development. The funding is for the further development of the programme, to expand the services and equip youth in the Western Cape over the next 2 years. RLabs Managing Director, RenĂ© Parker said “The support from USAID and The Western Cape Department of Social Development will have a direct impact on providing a much needed programme for young people addressing the crisis of youth unemployment”. RLabs aims to raise an additional US$1.5 Million which will also allow the programme to scale to other RLabs hubs in South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Somaliland and Tanzania.
