She’s the Geek is a project start-up in Bridgetown on the Cape Flats, and a recent SA blog award winner in the category “Best Science and Technology”. The She’s the Geek project is being incubated at RLabs, with the vision to empower women globally through technology and innovation. She’s the Geek provides training to their community, do regular tech reviews and provide consulting services to NGOs and businesses.
Another word that is buzzing in RLabs, is Uusi a Finnish word for “New Beginnings”. Uusi is a start-up company that is also being incubated in the RLabs space. The Uusi project is managed by Terence Hendricks, one of 2008 Social Media for Social Change graduates at RLabs. The concept is to have a space where the unemployed can advertise their trades and talents. Last week Terence was in Durban attending one of the biggest tech conferences “World Wide Web” to present Uusi.
