My name is Tameah Patience. I completed my matric year and was at home for 3 months. I didn’t think I’d have a job this year. Before the Yes program, I’ve given my CV at every retail store possible but my attempts were unsuccessful. I was ready to give up, however, my son was my only motivation, I told myself that I need to give him a better life. During that trying time, I got the opportunity to work at Shoprite but I decided to turn it down to take the Yes Program opportunity and I must say, I don’t regret it for one second.
I found out about Naspers Labs and saw that there were opportunities for me. Naspers Labs has taught me to never give up, to always go for what I believe in, and to always stay motivated towards my goal of becoming a better person for myself and my son. Naspers Labs taught me about self-confidence and being able to speak confidently.
For almost a year I’ve been working at Peacock as a shop assistant, thanks to RLabs and the Yes Program. I’ve improved on customer service, how to speak to customers, stock taking, and telephone etiquette. I’m more confident, able to speak my mind when needed. Before the opportunity, I was shy, now I can express myself.
My goal now is to get into a college to study Office Administration. I’m only able to do that next year due to the year being short. Until then, I might get lucky and start at a new coffee shop after my contract or even casual at Peacock, God willing.
For our youth out there, I’ll say never give up, be determined to reach your goal, be spontaneous, believe in yourself.

You give us hope for the future and I assure you, I’ll be talking about you with each person I meet in the future. Thank you for your motivation and kindness, you’ll always be blessed.
