RLabs Athlone Relaunch – Building a Brighter Future
We kicked off our RLabs Open Days in Athlone at the Bridgetown Library on Thursday, 22 August 2024.
We were thrilled to introduce the community to a range of amazing opportunities. This exciting initiative included presentations from various teams, including Yoma, Skill Accelerator, IU (International University of Applied Sciences), and RLabsU.
As RLabs University, our mission is to uplift communities by offering both introductory and advanced learning opportunities.
Our first initiative is the Work Readiness Essentials workshop, aimed at unemployed youth. This program will help participants develop essential skills like creating effective CVs and researching potential employers, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the job market successfully.
By mixing different age groups, we also encourage intergenerational learning and diverse perspectives on the workforce and economy.
RLabs has always been about making Hope Contagious, with a bold vision of impacting 2 billion people. Our relaunch in Bridgetown is a significant step toward that goal.
Bridgetown is more than just a community to us, it’s where RLabs began. We had a big presence here before, and now, we are returning to our roots with a renewed commitment to empower this community.
In a world increasingly dominated by technology, we are driven by a desire to equip people with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive. By relaunching our Academy in Bridgetown, we seek to reignite the hope in the community that first inspired our mission.
We want to see Bridgetown empowered, filled with hope for the future, and leading the way in embracing the opportunities of the digital age.
The Yoma team introduced their online platform, which enables users to grow their skills and earn virtual currency for essentials like electricity and airtime.
The Skills Accelerator team shared information about their AWS (Amazon Web Services) program and the Grow with Google scholarship, which offers six months of self-paced online learning.
Additionally, the IU team presented an incredible opportunity to pursue a three-year degree for free, with the only requirement being a high school Bachelor’s pass.
This event was not just about sharing information but about building trust, understanding, and unity. Together, we are building the foundation for a brighter future, one where everyone has the chance to thrive and be active contributors to a more compassionate, unified community.
